Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy Hosts NATO Conference

On 28 June 2016, the fifth annual NATO conference on defence education – NATO Clearing House 2016 – officially began at Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy.

The international forum was opened by the Deputy Minister of Defence, Dimitar Kuymyurdzhiev. He greeted the participants from 23 NATO member states attending the annual conference, and emphasised on the significance of the event and the importance of the agenda. Mr Kuymyurdzhiev furthermore expressed his confidence in the positive results and the success of the three-day forum.

The official guests included Mr Anton Lastardzhiev, Director of Human Resource Management Directorate, and Mr Trayko Stoykov, Head of Education and Qualification Department of the Ministry of Defence.

The conference is under the auspices of NATO’s Defence Education Enhancement Programme (DEEP), which connects tertiary educators from NATO member states with their counterparts from partner countries with the purpose of enhancing the curricula and methods of teaching in support of the respective partner countries in their efforts for achieving the goals for the enhancement of their defence education programmes.

The Naval Academy is the host of this prestigious forum in the area of defence education. It involves more than sixty participants from over twenty member states and dozens of institutions.
