Prime Minister of Republic of Bulgaria Visits Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy

On 06 August 2016, the Centre for Integrated Management and Monitoring of the Coastal Zone, related to the Integrated Information System for Support of the Coastal Zone Management project was officially opened at Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy.

Mr Boyko Borisov – Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria, was invited to the ceremony by the management of the Academy. He accepted the official invitation and was greeted by the Rector of the Academy, Commodore Prof. DSc Boyan Mednikarov, and the guard of honour. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria, together with parliament members from the 43d National Assembly, the Minister of the Environment and Waters – Ms Ivelina Vasileva, Mr Nikolay Nenchev – the Minister of Defence, General Konstantin Popov – the Chief of Defence, Mr Ivan Portnih – the Mayor of the city of Varna, Mr Stoyan Pasev – the Governor of the Province of Varna, Rear Admiral Mitko Petev – the Commander of the Navy, the Most Reverend Yoan – the Metropolitan of Varna and Veliki Preslav, ambassadors, Ms Desislava Konsulova – the Director of Basin Directorate for Water Management in the Black Sea Region, representatives of the maritime industry and the Board of Trustees of the Academy were among the official guests.

The ribbon with the colours of the national flag was cut by the ministers Ivelina Vasileva and Nikolay Nenchev, together with Commodore Prof. DSc Boyan Mednikarov. This was followed by a brief presentation of the Centre for Integrated Management and Monitoring of the Coastal Zone by Captain Prof. Dr Kalin Kalinov – Vice Rector for Education and Research of the Academy. The ministers and the other official guests then looked round the newly opened Centre, whose beneficiary is Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy, with Black Sea Region – Varna Basin Directorate as partner.

The guests were taken round the facilities of the Academy and were impressed with its new acquisitions.
