From 16 to 19 January 2017, Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy hosted a workshop for IAMU representatives and a NVNA local executive committee. They discussed the organizing of the 18th Annual General Assembly for IAMU members, which will be hosted in Varna by NVNA in October 2017. IAMU was represented by the IAMU deputy executive director, Mr. Yutaka Emi and IAMU Coordinator, Ms. Shigemi Matszuki. Their conclusion was that the local executive committee is fully prepared and capable to host the international forum.
IAMU stands for International Association of Maritime Universities and boasts 56 universities from various nations. Although not a university, the Nippon Foundation is the 57th IAMU member and the premier sponsor of the organization.
