On 10 April 2017 Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy was visited by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine, Dr Mikola Baltazhi.

The esteemed guest was greeted by Flotilla Admiral Prof. DSc Boyan Mednikarov, who delivered a briefing about the Academy in the Board Room. After his presentation Prof. Mednikarov spoke about the cooperation between Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy and Ukraine. He gave details about NATO’s DEEP Ukraine programme, as well as last year’s English course for Ukrainian officers and their certification in accordance with the requirements of STANAG 6001. Also discussed were the visits of the Smila and Sokal training vessels, as well as the possibility for Ukrainian trainees to take part in an international computer-assisted exercise.

At the end of the formal part Dr Baltazhi thanked Flotilla Admiral Mednikarov for the warm welcome and the opportunity to discuss the joint initiatives between the two countries.
