Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy ranks second among maritime universities

A benchmarking project by the International Association of Maritime Universities placed Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy as the second most prestigious institution of maritime higher education in the world. The universities were ranked according to three performance indicators: global engagement, research output, and education measures, with data of that type released for the first
time.

In the overall ranking our Naval Academy came in second, after the Australian Maritime College of Tasmania and ahead of universities from Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the USA.

Another piece of good news for our Naval Academy was that its partners from the Maritime University of Constanţa, Romania, took the fourth place.

IAMU is the elite club of the maritime universities worldwide, where the admission is very hard to obtain due to the high standards for providing a recognised higher maritime education.

Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy has been a member of IAMU since its establishment 21 years ago, and the Association’s 18 th annual general assembly in 2017 took place in Bulgaria.

More than 60 leading maritime universities in the world are members of IAMU, and the top spot of our Naval Academy in the ranking is evidence to the quality of the education that it offers.
