Real-time virtual training continues

On 02 April 2020, Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy started a course in Basic Safety for 95 foreign trainees. For the first time the course will be conducted in a virtual environment, which will be monitored by Maritime Administration by means of dedicated accounts. The trainees are subdivided into 4 groups, and classes are scheduled in the morning and in the afternoon.

The course is designed to ensure the continuous competence of all crewmembers with regard to fire prevention, personal survival techniques, and elementary first aid.

In the countrywide state-of-emergency conditions, the education activities at Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy have been uninterrupted. Remote training in real time has allowed its students to interact with their teachers very much like in a face-to-face classroom fashion. The digitialisation of higher education and qualification courses has been a process that commenced right after lockdown was declared, thanks to the state-of-the-art facilities at the Naval Academy, where the fact that remote learning is an investment in the future has been acknowledged for years.
