To get acquainted with the plans for the specialty, our material base and to ask your questions, please come to the Open Day at the Military Academy.
The training in the specialty “Cybersecurity” lasts 4 years (8 semesters). After successful completion, graduate students acquire a bachelor’s degree in the specialty “Cybersecurity” in the professional field “Communication and Computer Engineering”.
The main goal of the Bachelor’s program in “Cybersecurity” is to prepare technical specialists who will ensure the prevention and protection of modern information and network systems from various cyberattacks and attempts to unauthorized access to information resources in both state structures and companies, business organizations, suppliers and users of information services. In their future work, graduates are responsible for detecting, analyzing, studying and responding to events and incidents in cyberspace.
During the training, students of the specialty acquire knowledge in the field of information and network technologies such as algorithmization and programming, design and administration of computer networks, operating systems, design and programming of databases, and in the field of cybersecurity and cyber protection – in-depth knowledge of known vulnerabilities in operating systems, application software, computer networks; ways to minimize computer threats and manage computer incidents that have occurred, data mining, knowledge in the field of cryptography.
A large part of the disciplines are synchronized with the educational content of leading IT companies such as Cisco and Microsoft, and students are given the opportunity to acquire internationally recognized IT certificates in the Pearson VUE certification center operating on the territory of the Military Academy.
The available and constantly developing educational and technical base provides the opportunity to acquire practical skills and experience in administering operating systems (Windows, Windows Server, Linux), administering databases, administering, maintaining and protecting computer networks. During the practical classes, students acquire skills in installing, maintaining and monitoring software products; analyzing the operation of various processes in operating systems and detecting malicious ones; configuring and monitoring network devices; analyzing network traffic and detecting attacks.
A special place is devoted to acquiring practical skills in detecting vulnerabilities in computer systems and networks, as well as familiarizing themselves with the principles of ethical hacking.
The practical part of the classes is held in a cybersecurity training center, as well as in specialized computer rooms. Each student is provided with an individual workplace with a personal computer, communication equipment (switches, routers, specialized Firewall and ASA devices, etc.). The training also includes an internship in various IT companies with which the Naval Academy has established contacts. Part of the training can also be carried out in other European universities with which the Naval Academy “N. Y. Vaptsarov” has established contacts under the Erasmus + program.
Graduates of the specialty “Cybersecurity” are prepared to work as system and network administrators, programmers, engineers in ensuring network and information security in state structures, companies, business organizations. They have the opportunity to continue their education in the educational qualification degree “Master” in the specialties “Information and Communication Technologies” or “Cybersecurity” at the Naval Academy “N. Y. Vaptsarov”.
