Scientific research and development activities contribute to the establishment of Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy (NVNA) as a center of naval sciences and marine technologies.

Main areas of research activity at the Academy are:
– Naval armament and equipment;
– Shipping;
– Marine technologies;
– Maritime education and qualification of personnel for the Navy and the maritime industry.

The main directions of scientific activity include perspective and scientific-applied research.

Theoretical studies are conducted, concepts and forecasts are developed, reviews and analyzes are carried out in the field of naval armaments and equipment, marine science and technology.

Research and development is carried out in the field of the development of the armament system in the Bulgarian Navy and Army, the safety of navigation, the efficiency and reliability of marine equipment.

We are working on projects from the Plan for the research and development activities of the Ministry of Defense, for the needs of water transport and the maritime industry, and the plan of the Military Academy of Medical Sciences.

There is joint activity and cooperation with institutes and executive units at the regional, national and international level.

NVNA has cooperation agreements with the Institute of Hydro- and Aerodynamics, the Institute of Oceanology, factories of the military-industrial complex of the Republic of Bulgaria, etc.

NVNA participates in the creation of scientific associations and the formation of joint prospective research programs, such as the High-tech Business Incubator – Varna, the National Oceanographic Commission at UNESCO, etc.
