Operational use of ECDIS

The trainee will acquire and develop knowledge and understanding of the basic principles governing the safe operation of ECDIS/RCDS, including data from sensors and their presentation, main types of charts, basic navigational functions and settings, how to plan the route and execute monitoring the route, procedures for charts corrections as well as the system-related limitations and potential dangers using ECDIS.
Course requirements:
The training complies with the requirements of Reg. II/1, 2&3 of Annex of Convention STCW 78, as amended in connection with standards of Code A-II/1,2&3 and Tables- A-II/1,2&3 of the same Convention. The training is performed in accordance with the requirements of the IMO Model Course 1.27 and the Directive 2008/106/EU, as well.
Requirements to participants:
Students are seafarers who use or are going to use ECDIS. They should preferably be familiar with standard computer multimedia interface including elements such as windows, menus, trackball, etc.
