Basic Training for Ships Operating in Polar Waters

This course is intended for the training of seafarers on ships that fall under the provisions of the Polar Code and the respective STCW amendments in relation to the Polar Code requirements A-V/4-1. It is expected that the specialized training for seafarers who transit the environmental sensitive and unique waters around the North and South Pole will enable them to take all necessary measures and to act in a professional manner so as to protect themselves and their ship from the harsh ice conditions while ensuring that this natural paradise is protected from any environmental damage.
Requirements to participants:
Every candidate for a certificate in basic training for ships operating in polar waters shall hold a certificate as Master, chief mate or officer in charge of a navigation watch qualified in accordance with regulations II/1, II/2 and II/3 of the STCW Convention, respectively.
