Persons who have successfully completed the course will affirm their knowledge and skills so that they can effectively and safely fulfill the duties of Coxswain of a Fast Rescue Boat. In addition, the course should familiarize trainees with the latest regulations, methods and techniques used in this field.
Course requirements:
The course is designed to provide continuing competence for those seafarers who have completed the basic course and who wish to be issued with a certificate of professional competence “Proficiency in Fast Rescue Boat” which expiries or has already expired.
The course includes the implementation of Regulation 8/11, paragraph 5, of STCW’78 Convention, as amended and Chapter VI, Section A-VI/ 2, points 11-12, Table A-VI/2-2 of the Code requirements for continuing competence.
Requirements to participants:
Trainees must be at least 18 years of age; have undergone training in a “Proficiency in Fast Rescue Boat” course; have at least 12 months of seagoing service in the previous 5 years or 3 months within the previous 6 months, immediately prior to the completion of the course; to declare that they are physically and mentally fit to participate in the exercise.
Persons who do not have the required seagoing service have to pass the basic course.
