Preparatory Course for Ship Engineer Officers at Management Level

Trainees will be updated and their knowledge expanded on the following issues:
- New/ recently adopted amendments to international and national legal instruments based on the requirements of the International Maritime organization (IMO).
- Valid safety requirements on board related to storage and handling of ship’s technical materials, oil pollution prevention, personal safety and occupational safety, risk assessment and risk management at sea.
- Usage of ship documentation for fault detection, operation of various MIP systems, selection and maintenance of these modes of operation of the marine engines that are the most economical and the least detrimental to the environment.
4. Efficient engine team management and application of safe working practices, fault detection during the operation of the ship’s machinery and mechanisms.
The trainees shall be holders of the relevant certificate of competence as required by the provisions of Ordinance No 6 in order to be able to apply for the examination held by EA Maritime Administration for acquiring the following certificate of competence:
– chief engineer officer on ships powered by main propulsion machinery of 3,000 kW propulsion power or more – as per art.37 par.1;
– chief engineer officer on ships powered by main propulsion machinery of between 750 kW and 3,000 kW propulsion power- as per art.37 par.2;
– second engineer officer on ships powered by main propulsion machinery of 3,000 kW propulsion power or more – as per art.37 par.4;
– second engineer officer on ships powered by main propulsion machinery of between 750 kW and 3,000 kW propulsion power – as per art.37 par.5 of Ordinance No 6 On the Competence of Seafarers in the Republic of Bulgaria, published in SG issue 31/ 20.04.2012, as amended.
