In the specialization “Cyber Operations” cadets are trained for the needs of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Bulgaria. The term of the training is 5 years, and upon successful completion the graduates acquire two educational and qualification degrees: Bachelor in the civilian specialty “Cybersecurity” in the professional field of “Communication and Computer Technology” and Bachelor in the military specialty “Organization and Management of Military Formations at the Tactical Level”, specialization “Cyber Operations” in professional field “Military Affairs”. They were awarded the military rank of “lieutenant”.
The specialization “Cyber Operations” prepares officers responsible for information and network security in various systems used in the Bulgarian Army and the structures subordinate to the Ministry of Defense. In their future work, they are responsible for detecting, analyzing, studying and responding to events and incidents in cyberspace. computer networks, programming, databases. In their specialized training, cadets acquire knowledge and skills for assessing vulnerabilities in various information and communication systems, ways and software tools for carrying out various cyberattacks, as well as approaches to counteract them. The graduate gets acquainted with the organization and procedures in the cyber defense centers. The practical part of the classes are held in a cybersecurity training center, as well as in specialized computer rooms. During the training, internships in various formations of the Armed Forces are also included. In the required minimum degree, along with the technical training, the study of the regulatory framework concerning cybersecurity issues is also included.
After graduation, the graduates hold initial positions as an administrator in communication and information centers of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Bulgaria, a support engineer in a command and cyber defense center, an administrator in a computer incident response center and others.
