Cadets’ Sailing Practice on Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy’s Training Vessel m/v Asen

In accordance with the curriculum of the Naval Academy, September 2016 saw the start of the training voyages for the military cadets from the cadet battalion onboard the m/v 422 in the water zone of Naval Homeport Station Varna and in the Lake of Varna.

During their training, second- to fifth-year cadets will exercise a wide range of practical operations, such as: berthing, mooring, navigation in narrow waters, checking the engine readiness, giving and following commands for the handling of the motor vessel. In addition, the cadets will study the construction of the engine and take part in providing the vessel’s communications

Each party is headed by its crew leader. The proper execution of their tasks is supervised by the commanding officer of the cadet training battalion, Lieutenant Commander Valentin Vasilev.
