On 23 September 2019, a one-year course in Japanese language and culture is set to start at the Naval Academy under a joint programme of the Academy with the Japanese International Cross-cultural exchange Association (ICEA). The classes will be held twice a week (Wednesdays for Conversation, and Thursdays for Culture) from 1630 to 1800 hrs, with a special Japan Day organised once a month.

The course will be taught by a volunteer teacher from Japan, Ms. Noriko Ishimaru, and is free for Naval Academy students and staff.
